Gaga’s Manager Goes to Work for Priyanka Chopra

Models want to act. Singers want to model. Actors want to produce. It’s common enough to see the rich and famous of Hollywood eagerly trying to expand their horizons—to varying degrees of success.

Now it seems the trend is expanding to Bollywood. Priyanka Chopra was recently spotted in the US with Troy Carter, manager to the illustrious Mother Monster.

The sighting immediately prompted speculations about a collaboration between Gaga and Chopra. Gaga’s been eagerly courting the Indian audience through her eclectic Desi inspired mix of Born this Way.

“The reason I’m going to India now is because I can,” Gaga told the WSJ. “I didn’t have the money or the resources before to travel and bring all of my things with me and reach an entire new territory of fans.”

However Priyanka has now confirmed news that she’s working with Universal Music Group (UMG) as part of her own foray into the international music scene. Her debut album is due for release either later this year or early next year.

Sources say that the opportunity presented itself and Priyanka just went for it. “She’s being backed by people like Jimmy Iovine, who was the mentor for American Idol. She will be managed by Troy Carter—Lady Gaga’s manager.”

“This is something I have always wanted to do,” says Priyanka. “Everyone who knows me knows that I love singing When UMG met me, it seemed like the right opportunity and I agreed. It’s not something that I had planned, it’s something that happened out of the blue, but I am very excited about it.”

When asked about her movie career, Priyanka replied: “my movies are my priority and will always be. But my music is very important to me. This is something very few people get to do, and I want to do it well.”

Priyanka also revealed the genre of her new album: it’ll be pop music for sure. It will be representative of me, the kind of person I am, and the music that I like to listen to. I am writing the music myself. It will be very much from my heart.”
