Missing Actor Raj Kiran Located in American Assylum

Remember the limpid-eyed boy who crooned  “Tum itna jo muskura rahi ho, kya gham hai jisko chhupa rahi ho” in  Mahesh Bhatt’s Arth?

Raj Kiran was a well-known actor who has been missing for the better part of a decade.

The plot reads like a Bollywood drama. Kiran was at the peak of his career during in the 70s and 80s when he suddenly disappeared. Rumors of the actor’s death were rampant, but nothing was confirmed.

Rishi Kapoor, Kiran’s longtime friend, found all the speculation unacceptable: “I was wondering where Raj had disappeared. When the rumors of Raj being no more began circulating, I was really disturbed. How can a colleague with whom I shared some really good times, just vanish from the face of earth? I decided to look up Raj’s elder brother Govind Mehtani to find out about Raj.”

Kapoor was visibly emotional as he stated, “I was so relieved when Govind told me Raj was alive. He has been confined to a hospital in Atlanta due to health problems. After being abandoned by his wife and son, Raj suffered a mental and emotional breakdown. It’s a tragic situation for an actor who was so successful, but I’m just happy to know he’s alive.”

Kiran is best remembered for remarkable performances in films like B R Ishaara’s Kaagaz Ki Nao, Subhash Ghai’s hit Karz, and Mahesh Bhatt’s critically acclaimed Arth.

Once Kiran’s treatment is complete, Kapoor says that he wants to help Kiran return to Mumbai and resume his acting career.
