Patiala House: Appealing to South Asian Diaspora

The upcoming film release Patiala House seems to emotionally appeal to Sikhs who have faced atrocities during the 1979 Southall racial riots. The story is reflects on the cross-cultural assimilation of the Sikh community in the United Kingdom.

Nikhil Advani added to the authenticity of the film by casting 12 British-Asians out of 60 who auditioned. The cast selected from the UK will be flown down to Mumbai for a long schedule. The crew has already shot in Southall at the Gurdhwara in the centre of the riots back in 1979. The producers were happy with the welcoming they received by the elders in the temple once the storyline of the film was explained to them.

The film headlines both Rishi Kapoor and Akshay Kumar as the lead actors. The story is based on a father/son relationship between Rishi and Akshay. The mother to Akshay is going to be played by Dimple Kapadia. The film is set to be released sometime in November and Mr. Kumar is in hopes that this release will improve his luck!
